KABUL (TOLO News): The Afghan Acting Defense Minister Assadullah Khalid and the commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan Gen. Scott Miller visited Farah province on Monday where they held discussions with the provincial officials including governor and top security officials.

Farah police chief said the local population in the province are determined to take action against the militants and secure their lands from the Taliban.

“The people are ready to secure their lands from the Taliban,” said Mohiuddin Khairkhwa, Farah provincial police chief. “We have made a lot of success but there is more to do.”

“We are here to listen to your challenges and act on those challenges,” said Khalid while addressing security and civilian officials in Farah.

According to Gen. Miller, they made the trip to the west to meet with the security pillars.

Miller meanwhile reiterated that he joined ANDSF leadership in Farah trip to assure that the US and NATO support Afghans’ quest for peace.

“We came to Farah with the ANDSF leadership to meet with the security leaders supporting the people’s quest for peace,” Miller said.

In addition, provincial governor Shoaib Sabit said that the Afghan forces and their foreign counterparts are working together.

“Shoulder to shoulder, day and night we stand together,” said Farah provincial governor Shoaib Sabit.
