KABUL (Khaama Press): China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun said that Afghanistan’s overseas assets should be returned quickly and in full to the Afghan people. The envoy made the remarks at a Security Council meeting on cooperation between the UN and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
This comes after US president Joe Biden allocated $3.5 billion out of the $7 billion reserves of Afghanistan to compensate the victims of 9/11. Zhang Jun said that the top priority for the International Community must be making efforts to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the war-ravaged country. He also called on the International Community to practice genuine unilateralism and oppose block politics. China is not the first country that raises voice for the release of Afghanistan’s funs, earlier. Iran and other aid agencies also condemned the decision and even dubbed it theft.
