ALP personnel among 9 killed in Nangarhar clash

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Five Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel and four civilians have been killed during a clash between the Taliban and security forces in the Goshta district of eastern Nangarhar province, a reliable security source said on Saturday.

The clash happened Friday night at around 12:00am in the Sar Band locality when the Taliban attacked ALP personnel check-post in the area.

Governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani confirmed the clash and added both sides suffered casualties in the clash without going into more details.

Karim Khan, a tribal elder in the area, said two women and as many men had been killed when a mortar shell hit a house in the Khwazio village.

He added a mosque and some house were also destroyed in the attack.
