Anti-polio drive to start from March 12

TIMERGARA: District health officer Lower Dir Shaukat Ali on Thursday said all arrangements for the upcoming national immunization campaign have been finalized. Briefing the participants of a meeting held at Balambat here he said 829 mobile teams, 46 transits, 70 fixed teams along with 217 area supervisors had been formed for the drive starting from March, 12.

The Lower Dir deputy commissioner Sarmad saleem Akram chaired the polio eradication committee meeting. Speaking on the occasion DC said that Lower Dir had been polio-free since 2006. He asked the participants to mobilize communities for the upcoming drive so that none of the children below five years remained unvaccinated.

He warned the officials of legal actions if found negligent during the three day campaign. He said the administration officers would also monitor the situation. About security arrangements he said all possible measures would be taken for security of the concerned health staff.
