ISLAMABAD (NNI): All Parties Conference (APC) called by Awami National Party (ANP) on the issue of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) reforms stood divided as Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl ur-Rehman and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (Pk-MAP) disagreed with the idea of merging of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.
According to the joint declaration issued after APC, the majority wanted merging FATA into KP. The declaration demanded end to Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) and supported the democratic rights of the people of FATA.
The strange thing about the APC was that Fazl and Achakzai expressed disagreement with the declaration. Opposition Leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that all parties joining hands for the reforms in FATA was a welcome move and the majority wanted merger of FATA into KP.
