Authorities directed to ensure cleanliness

PESHAWAR: The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan has directed all the developmental authorities of the province to initiate a comprehensive beautification and cleanliness campaign in their jurisdictions, aiming to create a healthy and hygienic atmosphere for the concerned public of their respective jurisdiction. In this regard the Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) has, on behalf of the Chief Secretary’s office issued directives through the local govt and rural development department to all the developmental authorities with special instructions to intimate their progress regularly.

These directives were addressed to Peshawar development authority (PDA), Kohat Development Authority (KDA), Swat District Development Authority, Jinnah Abad (Abbottabad), Mardan Development Authority (MDA), Mansehra Township and Kaghan Development Authority, demanding for furnishing an initial progress report to be submitted with PMRU in 30 days positively.

The aim of the task was to keep the congested residential areas clean and the inhabitants should be provided a healthy and hygienic atmosphere and spreading of different diseases could be controlled.

The concerned quarters were asked to prepare a long term plan of action to be carried out in their respective jurisdictions repeatedly in future.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government has also directed all the deputy commissioners of the province to enforce the hygienic measures in respect of all butchers shops operating in their jurisdictions and insuring the availability of healthy and hygienic meat to the public at all costs.

These directives were conveyed to all the Deputy Commissioners through performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) on behalf of the Chief Secretary with special instructions and measurements to be taken in all butcher shops with immediate effect.

It included that meat available for sale should be fully covered with net, the meat shops shall have proper glass protection against dust, flies and smoke etc.

It further said that the meat cutting wood pieces and counters must be washed and clean and those butchers having temporary Cabins should be ask to make other needed arrangements against dust, flies, smokes etc.

The divisional commissioners were asked to review the progress regularly and intimate to the provincial government through PMRU.

The deputy Commissioners were also instructed to enlist all the butcher shops in their respective districts and strictly implement the above mentioned instructions in letter and spirit.
