British Afghan-origin official accused of spying for Russia

KABUL (Khaama Press): British media have reported that an Afghan-origin employee of British intelligence agencies and the Foreign Office of the country has been accused of spying for Russia.

The Times newspaper, published in Britain on Thursday, February 7, reported that the individual in question has traveled to Russia at least six times to establish contact, according to reports.

According to reports, he entered Britain in 2000 and received asylum based on the fact that he came directly from Afghanistan.

The Times report, without naming the Afghan-origin spy, added that he had met with the British monarch and Prince William during a trip to Afghanistan.

The British media continues to claim that he has worked with David Cameron and Gordon Brown, and has also met with Prince Charles and Prince William.

It should be noted that this asylum seeker has denied the accusation of spying for Russia and stated that he lied in his asylum application.

According to reports, he has requested a review of the government’s decision to revoke his British citizenship in a special court.

However, his British citizenship was revoked in 2019 after allegations of espionage for Russian military intelligence surfaced.

According to British security and intelligence officials, he had access to “classified” documents while working with the government in Afghanistan.

So far, the British government has not decided on the espionage case against this individual.

Previously, senior British security officials have repeatedly warned about Russian penetration and espionage in the country.
