Chaudhary urges PCB to lodge formal protest to the ICC against India

KARACHI (Monitoring Desk): Pakistan’s federal information minister, Fawad Chaudhary has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to lodge a formal complaint to the ICC against India on wearing army caps during their third ODI against Australia at Ranchi on Friday.

According to reports, the Board of Cricket Control of India told the International Cricket Council that the motive behind their action is to raise funds rather than making a political statement.

On the other hand, an Indian journalist tweeted that it was done to show solidarity with their army. According to the ICC’s code of conduct, players cannot give any political, religious or racist message through it.

Chaudhary condemned Indian player wearing army caps and said that if the cricketing authority does not take action, Pakistan team will also take steps to show solidarity with Kashmiri people.

“Pakistan Cricket team should wear black bands to remind The World about Indian atrocities in Kashmir,” he wrote in his tweet.

However, India fell 32 runs short against Australia as they were chasing a big total of 314 runs despite Virat Kohli’s 123 runs in the match.

Pakistani-born Usman Khawaja scored his maiden ODI ton, while the skipper Aaron Finch scored 93 runs in the in the game.
