Chief Minister directs timely completion of developmental projects in merged districts

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan said on Thursday that Quick Impact Projects in merged districts should be completed within the set timeframe adding that no delay would be tolerated in timely completion of the projects.

The Chief Minister also took notice of the outbreak of Leishmaniasis disease in South Waziristan district directing the health department to submit a report regarding the existing situation in addition to dispatching health units, equipped with all necessary arrangements, on immediate basis to effectively control the outbreak.

He was presiding a review meeting held here at Chief Minister’s House and said that awareness campaign to be launched in the affected areas to educate people on the preventive and curative measures to effectively control the disease.

The meeting was also attended by Advisor to Prime Minister, Iftikhar Durrani, Advisor to Chief Minister on merged Districts Ajmal Wazir, Minister Information Shaukat Yousafzai and other high ranking officials.

The Chief Minister directed the Health Department to fill all vacant positions of doctors in the seven District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) and four Tehsil Headquarter Hospitals (THQs) by April, 30.

Mahmood Khan maintained that supply of missing equipment’s and facilities should also be made by May 30.

The meeting was informed that the Independent Monitoring Units of the Health Department are holding regular visits to health facilities in the newly merged districts. However, PC1 for hiring regular staff has been completed and the recruitment process will be completed by May, 30.

The Chief Minister was also informed that from the 18th of the ongoing month, sports festivals will be held in all the merged districts which will continue till 25th of April. Additionally, 25 sports grounds will also be constructed at sub divisional level throughout the newly merged districts under the Quick Impact Projects.

The Chief Minister further directed the concerned authorities to complete the work on the solarisation of health facilities including THQs, DHQs, and Type-D hospitals by October 2019, adding that the work on solarization of 300 mosques should also be expedited and should be completed by the end of the ongoing year.

With regards to the Elementary & Secondary Education Sector, the Chief Minister directed that recruitment on 2364 vacant positions in schools and colleges of erstwhile FATA should be filled by June, 30 of this year.

The Chief Minister also directed the Secretary Local Government to take necessary steps to ensure filling of the vacant positions by the end of June to ease up the devolution of powers to grass root level in the merged districts.
