CJ asked to take notice of horse trading in Senate polls

F.P. Report

TIMERGARA: The Awami National Party central spokesman and former senator Zahid Khan on Saturday said that party’s leaders and parliamentarians were admitting horse trading in the senate election but the Supreme Court of Pakistan had kept silence on the matter.

Talking to local journalists at Odigram here the ANP nominated candidate for national assembly from Lower Dir said that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had made the senate election as the ‘Juma bazaar’ of the parliamentarians. He said political leaders of different parties had been demanding of the Chief Justice to take suo-motu action on the senate election but it had kept silence on the matter. He said the election commission of Pakistan could not probe into the matter on its own.

About the delimitation of constituencies he said that all political parties had expressed reservations on it so the ECP should conduct a survey before finalizing the constituencies.

Criticizing both the PTI and MQM he said some of their MPAs were sold like goats and sheep. He said that parties’ chiefs should also take action against the MPAs who had slipped in the senate election. “The performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is limited to media only and there is no sign of change on the ground,” Mr Khan said, adding the ANP had added 9 universities in the province during its rule while the incumbent government had not established a single university or college.

The ANP leader said his party would make no alliance for the next general election and would field own candidates in all constituencies.
