CJP shows displeasure over police performance in Zainab case

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Saqib Nisar has said that it is very unfortunate that the parliaments didn’t drafted legislation so far in the child harassment matter.

CJP give this remarks while hearing a suo moto case regarding a seven-year-old girl, Zainab case, who was raped and murdered in Kashur last week.

CJP Saqib Nisar ready to meet the parliamentarians to bring reforms in the judicial system. He stressed on decrease the gap between judiciary and parliament and adding that the parliament should take steps for reformation as it is a supreme institution.

Punjab additional inspector general (AIG) and advocate general (AG) attended the court proceedings in the Kasur rape case.

CJP expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of police and government and adding that no any major breakthrough happened so far in the case. He added that whole nation was in deep grief over the brutal incident.

The AIG informed the court that probe in the case was underway and adding that police have interrogated around 1,100 suspects in the case. The AIG informed the court that eight similar cases emerged in Kasur since the last one and half year.

The court has also ordered to stop proceedings regarding the Zainab case at the Lahore High Court as the high court had no authority to take suo moto action
