Clash in Herat leaves 2 kids dead

Monitoring Desk

KABUL: At least two children were killed in a clash between government forces and Taliban militants in Herat province on Sunday, local officials said on Monday.

Another person was wounded in the clash, the Herat governor’s spokesman Jailani Farhad, said, adding that the two children were brothers and the wounded is their father. He said the clash occurred in Azizabad area in Shindand district. Jailani said it is not clear whether the victims lost their lives in security forces or the Taliban’s firing.

This comes after President Ashraf Ghani ordered strict rules for Afghan forces to prevent civilian casualties in their operations.
