CM chair meeting to review the progress on mega projects by FWO

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed to follow the timelines agreed to the completion of different projects initiated with the Frontier Works Organization (FW0) that included Swat Expressway, Oil Refinery at Karak, Cement plant at Haripur hydro projects in Chitral and two housing schemes in Peshawar and Reshakai.

He was addressing the participants of a representation to review the progress on mega projects undertaken by the FWO at Chief Minister Secretariat Peshawar. High ups of FWO, administrative secretaries and others attended. Chief Minister was briefed about the pace of progress on the 81 KM long Swat Expressway costing Rs. 34 billion, the establishment of an oil refinery for which a chunk of 600 kanal of land was being acquired and which would be inaugurated by the Chief Minister next month. He was also briefed about the two mega housing schemes, a cement plant at Hariur, medical college Nowshera, DHQ, Kabul river bridge, four hydro power projects in Chitral and Naran. The Chief Minister was assured that practical work on the mega projects in hydro, cement plant, oil refinery etc would be initiated within three months.

Pervez Khattak in his remarks said that these are the mega projects having importance for the province and would be completed with the help of FWO. He regretted that the previous government did not pay any heed to the projects of public importance. What the previous rulers did brazenly, was a rampant corruption and nepotism. He directed for the early completion of different packages of the Swat Motorway along with additional lines in order to meet the future need of ever growing traffic. The meeting was briefed about the pace of progress on different packages initiated simultaneously at the Swat Motorway. He was also briefed about the acquisition of land for the oil refinery at Karak. He was further briefed about the pace of progress on the hydro power projects to be put on ground in April. The Chief Minister directed the district administrations to coordinate with FWO.

He also directed for accelerated work on cement plant Haripur, housing schemes in Peshawar and Reshakai and other projects being launched in collaboration with FWO. He directed the FWO to design an international sports stadium in the Reshakai Housing scheme adding that Peshawar Arbab Niaz Stadium was being renovated with a billion rupees to make it of an international standard. He said he would personally visit the sites of these projects in the near future.
