HERAT: Several commanders among 39 Taliban gunmen were killed and 10 others wounded during clashes in Farah province, Afghan army claimed Monday.
The Taliban gunmen swarmed police outposts in the Tenk area of Pusht-e-Rod district, Farah province, killing a cop and wounding two others, said Arif Nizami, deputy press officer of Afghan National Army’s 207th Zafar Corps in western Afghanistan.
During the fighting, Resolute Support Mission’s aircraft targeted Taliban, killing 37 fighters and wounding seven more, he said.
Among the dead were several Taliban commanders including Mullah Ibrahim Jabeer, Hafiz Niaz, Haji Baseer, Saleh Muhammad Ajmal, Niamatullah Haqmal, Qari Majeed, Haji wahid, Mullah Qadar, Hafiz Saber, Jilan, Nadar, Nabi, Habibullah and Basheer.
Meanwhile, two more Taliban fighters, Mullah Abdul Qayum and Haji Hassamuddin, were killed and three others wounded during a clash in the Shewan village of Bala Balok district, Farah province, the ANA said.
There was no word by Taliban in this regard.
