KUNDUZ: Gunmen killed a local police commander in Kunduz while two persons were injured as armed men attacked the convoy of a Wolesi Jirga member in Baghlan on Monday.
Armed men shot dead a local police commander Mir Ahmad in the second security zone of Kunduz city, head of the second security zone, Bashir Ahmad Tawas told Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
The fallen police officer was performing duty in Bagh-e-Shirkah area in Kunduz city, he said. The attackers fled the scene, he added.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
In a separate incident, gunmen attacked the convoy of Wolesi Jirga member from Takhar, Qudratullah Zaki in Markazi Baghlan district in Baghlan province.
The lawmaker escaped unhurt in the attack, he said. However, his two security guards were injured in the clash. The gunfight was still in progress, he added.
Officials in Baghlan and armed opponents have not said anything in this regard so far.
