Construction of work on Govt School be started

F.P Report

PESHAWAR: The residents of Union Council No 6 Hassan Garhi 2 Peshawar, have appealed Chief Justice Peshawar High Court and provincial government to commence construction work on pending government girls high school in their locality.

Kifayatullah Khalil Councilor of UC No 6 Hasasn Garhi 2 while speaking at a news conference on Saturday at Peshawar press club said that education department had acquired land for girls high school three years back and that the tender for the construction of the said school was also awarded to local a contractor but owing to charging low rate of the land by the provincial government, the owners have taken stay on that land. The construction work could not initiated so far, he added.

He informed that provincial government had approved five girls high schools  for PK-1 wherein construction of two schools had been completed while the other two schools are near to completion but construction of  ill-fated school in their locality is yet to be started.

Flanked by the dwellers of the aggrieved locality, he said the said contractor is reluctant to start construction work on girls high school as the hike in the prices of construction material has made it impossible to begin work on that land. Unfortunately the owner of the land has also acquired stay order over low charging of the land by the provincial government from the Peshawar high court.

He further stated that land owner has nominated education department and deputy commissioner Peshawar as party to the case and award letter has also been issued in this case. As there is only one primary school in their area which is also over-crowded. More than 500 students are enrolled in the five room primary school and that there is no middle or high school for girls in locality, he added.

Aggrieved complainant appealed Chief Justice Peshawar High Court and provincial government to commence construction work on pending government girls high school in their locality to ensure free education in light of law.
