KABUL (Khaama Press): A contract for the extraction of lead and zinc mines in the province of Bamyan has been signed between the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and the Afghan Durrani Mine Extraction Company, said a statement.
The Lead and Zinc Mines are in the Gandeh Kotal area of the Yakawlang district of Bamyan province of Afghanistan.
Shahab Uddin Delawar, the acting minister of mines and petroleum and the director of the Mine Extraction and Processing Company, participated in a signing ceremony to formally establish the contract.
For the company mentioned above, a five-year contract for lead and zinc extraction has been granted, Ministry said.
Due to their importance in numerous industries and high market demand, lead and zinc mineral extraction offers Afghanistan enormous economic potential.
In addition, to the outstanding corrosion resistance, lead is frequently used in paints. Another significant metal with numerous uses is zinc. Since it offers better corrosion protection than iron or steel alone, it is generally utilized as a galvanizing material for steel constructions like bridges and buildings.
It is expected that the agreement will benefit the country’s mining sector, fostering economic growth and, in addition, opening up job opportunities for the people.
