Court extends protective bail of PPP’s Jam Khan Shoro

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended the protective bail of former provincial minister Jam Khan Shoro till April 30, after National Accountability Bureau (NAB) started an inquiry against him, on Wednesday.

Earlier on March 14, SHC Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh headed two-member bench and it approved bail for the PPP leader against a surety of Rs500,000.

As the hearing underway, the Investigation Officer (IO) of NAB informed the honorable court that the Board has given approval to file references against the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and others for causing huge loss to the national exchequer.

He said plots were auctioned on his [Jam Khan Shoro] directions by the Karachi Development Authority (KDA) officials.

“The reference will soon be presented before the court”, the IO assured the bench.

Later the court adjourned hearing of the case after extending Jam Khan Shoro’s bail till April 30.

According to the accountability watchdog body three different inquiries were being carried out against the former Sindh’s local government minister, one of them pertained to illegal allotment of 62 government plots in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

NAB said illegal allotment of plots cost the national exchequer Rs180 million. Former Director General of KDA Nasir Abbas has also been arrested in the same case.
