Finance minister chairs ECC meeting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar chairs a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for approval of grants for certain departments, on Wednesday.

According to reports, the ECC meeting is likely to discuss the demand and production of urea fertilizer in the country. The meeting is also anticipated to analyze the performance of Utility Stores Corporation.

ECC will also be given briefing on cases lodged by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against employees of steel mills.

The meeting is likely to approve grants of Rs610 million for the office of Controller General Accounts, Rs70 million for the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) and Rs250 million for Auditor General, Pakistan.

Moreover, a grant of Rs140 million is likely to be approved for the Pakistan Mortgage Refinance Company and a supplementary grant for Civil Armed Forces.
