Court grants bail to Khadija Shah in controversial tweets case

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Pronouncing a reserved verdict, a court in Lahore on Wednesday approved the post-arrest bail application of a fashion designer and a diehard PTI supporter, Khadija Shah, in controversial tweets case in lieu of a surety bond of Rs0.2 million.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had accused Khadija of making tweets against state institutions on May 9.

The additional district and sessions judge had a day before yesterday (Monday) sought from the FIA the case record of Khadija.

During the hearing of her bail application, her counsel argued that she was not involved in the cases linked to the May 9 riots and requested the court to grant her bail.

Consequently, the judge directed the FIA to submit the case’s record by November 7.

The FIA had arrested PTI activist Khadija Shah from the Central Jail in Lahore five days ago.
