OKARA: A court in Okara Wednesday rejected a request of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to extend physical remand of former first lady Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka and sent him to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
Khawar Maneka, who was arrested by the ACE while he was fleeing abroad from Lahore Airport, was produced in the court in a corruption case.
The ACE had first produced Khawar Maneka in the court of a senior civil judge on September 26 and demanded physical remand of him which the judge granted and remanded Khawar Maneka to ACE police for eight days.
On Wednesday, Khawar Maneka was produced in the court on the completion of the eight-day remand.
He was arrested on the accusation of causing a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer by grabbing the land of the Auqaf Department and building shops and marriage halls on it.
