COVID-19: 203 new cases reported in Afghanistan

KABUL (TOLOnews): The Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan on Sunday reported 203 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,502 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The Public Health Ministry also reported eight deaths and 114 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.

The new cases were reported in Kabul (19), Herat (73), Nangarhar (16), Takhar (25), Paktia (5), Bamiyan (1), Kunduz (4), Badakhshan (2), Badghis (27), Maidan Wardak (1), Helmand (2), Laghman (1), Kunar (1), Ghor (16), Khost (5), and Paktika (6) provinces.

The deaths were reported in Kabul (3), Herat (1), Nangarhar (2), Parwan (1), and Nuristan (1) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.

The Health Ministry stated that the cumulative total of known COVID-19 cases is 52,909, the total number of reported deaths is 2,230, and the total number of recoveries is 42,405.

So far, 204,335 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 7,596 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,836,993 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 84,642,411, according to Johns Hopkins University.
