Covid-19: Educational institutes to remain closed till June 6 in 52 high-risk districts

ISLAMABAD: National Command Operation Center (NCOC) announced remaining close all public and private educational institutions in 52 high-risk districts in Pakistan till June 06, 2021.

The educational institutes in districts with a Covid-19 rate of less than 5 percent would be reopened in phases from Monday, May 24, 2021, and others would remain shut until the first week of next month.

Federal Ministry of Education spokesperson on Friday confirmed that the NCOC to make a decision about to open the educational institutes in the remaining 52 districts would hold its review meeting on June 03, 2021.

The spokesperson of the education ministry optimistically said schools in other districts would also be reopened on June 7 after the NCOC’s review meeting on June 03.

Educational institutions in 20 districts of Punjab including Lahore, Attock, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Rahim Yar Khan, Khanewal, Khushab, Layyah, Lodhran, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Okara, Sargodha and Toba Tek Singh with a high rate of coronavirus would remain closed till June 6.

Public and private educational institutions in 14 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) including Abbottabad, Bannu, Charsadda, Buner, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Haripur, Kohat, Karam, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Swabi, and Swat would also remain closed.

As per the NCOC decision, all educational institutions in 12 districts of Sindh including all districts of Karachi, Badin, Dadu, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Sukkur as well as educational institutions in four districts of Azad Kashmir including Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Poonch and Sadhnauti, and one each in Balochistan and Islamabad would remain closed till June 6.
