KABUL: Residents of Kabul city complained that the crime level has increased in the city recently, and officials are not acting to reduce the crime level as necessary.
People said that they can’t walk at night in the streets of Kabul city.
Rashid, a butcher in Kabul city, said he was attacked:
“They entered my shop–I thought they might need meat, but they opened fire on me with a pistol.”
Rashid’s family members criticized governmental officials about the incident.
“If your wife and sister were faced with such a problem, what do you do? Please be merciful and hear our voices,” said Nabila, sister of Rashid.
Khaja Naseem Seddiqi, another resident of Kabul city said: “Three or four days ago a boy was faced with such problem–he was robbed of his phone and money.”
Aurangzeb, a Kabul resident, said that his relatives’ home was robbed by armed men, but no one arrested the perpetrators.
“No one asked, and they did not the perpetrators,” added Aurangzeb.
Abdul Wasay said, “no one can walk after evening along certain routes, and we are concerned when we on our way.”
Meanwhile, Ferdaws Faramarz, spokesman for the Kabul police, said that they have arrested dozens of persons who have illegal weapons and are alleged perpetrators of crime.
“We have arrested 53 persons who are linked to different crimes, such as murdering, injuring, robbing of cars and home, ethical corruptions,” added Faramarz.
Some residents say that the governmental officials and politicians “support” the armed criminals, adding that lack failing to enforce the law increases the crime level. (TOLOnews)
