Daughter, lover killed on name of honour

SHIKARPUR: A painful incident took place at village “Ghar Punhja” next to Ghari Yasin Town wherein a ruthless father shot his young daughter and her alleged paramour dead with shotgun over having alleged illicit relations with her neighbor, in the precinct of Golo Daro Police Station, some 40 kilometers off.

Qurban Khakhrani, the SHO aforesaid Police Station told this scribe that Ali Bakhsh Brohi with the help of his relatives gunned down his daughter identified as Ms Noorzadi, of 18, and her alleged paramour identified as Anwar Ali Pahore, her neighbor, with shotgun at Agricultural land and managed to escape from place of crime scene.

Following on the information area police reached on the spot and moved the bodies to Taluka Headquarters Hospital Ghari yasin for autopsies and handed over to their heirs after completing necessary medical-legal formalities. The practice of killing of innocent women has been continuing for a long in Sindh especially in Northern Sindh’s district Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Qambar-Shahdadkot and other district. There is dire need for taking rigorous steps to eliminate traditional practice of killing women over pretext of Karo-Karo [Honour Killing] for the welfare of the women.

Area police have registered an FIR [06/2019] and succeeded in arresting main suspect Ali Bakhsh Brohi and launched a manhunt to apprehend other accomplices to maintain law and order situation in the vicinity.
