Dealers nominated to modify, convert weapon licenses

PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner has nominated eight registered arms and ammunition dealers in the district to modify and convert automatic weapons covered by valid arms licenses issued by federal government within prohibited category into semi/ non-automatic weapons by Jan 31.

Nominated arms and ammunitions dealers are: M/s Azizullah& Brothers, M/s Javed Iqbal & Sons,M/s Malik &Sons, Fateh Rahman & Sons, M/s Haji Sherin, M/s Sufyan Gohar, Muhammad Zarin Arms Repair Dir and Ayub Arms Repair Bibyawar.

After conversion of these automatic weapons into semi/non automatic weapons, concerned dealer would issue a certificate and share the same with the office of Deputy Commissioner and District Police Officer for record.

Any licensee who possesses automatic weapon within prohibited category and wants to surrender it for compensation price of Rs. 50,000/- per automatic rifle and Rs. 20,000/- per automatic pistol/handgun can surrender his weapon to Additional Deputy Commissioner Dir Upper.

Payment would be made after receipt of funds from the government, said a release issued here on Thursday.
