DHQ civil hospital holds free Hepatitis screening, vaccination camp

ZHOB: District Headquarters civil hospital organized a day long free screening and vaccination camp in collaboration with Hepatitis cell Balochistan to prevent the fatal but preventable and treatable disease. Medical staff conducted screening tests of over seven hundred people through Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT kits) and vaccinated around two hundred poor male female patients hailing from for-flung areas of the district.

District Chairman Sheikh Yousaf Mandokhail visited the camp and inspected the facilities. He was flanked by DHO Dr. Muzafar Shah, MS Dr. Akhter Mandokhail, Khateeb Sheikhan masque Maulana Nadir Shah, President Para medical staff association Tahir Hotak, doctors and medical staff.

MS Dr. Akhter Mandokhail on the occasion said that Hepatitis Cell Balochistan provided RDT kits and Engerix-B vaccines to DHQ hospital for the prevention of Hepatitis in the area, adding, around five hundred patients were already getting anti-hepatitis pills free of cost regularly that has shown remarkable results.

He said the disease spreads through exchange of blood, using infected syringes and razor blades. People should take precautionary measures and avoid using other’s blades, razors and disposable syringes more than one time.

“Creating awareness about the lethal infectious disease Hepatitis and its prevention is our collective responsibility,” adding necessary preventive measures should be adopted before blood transfusion and ensure that the blood is screened for hepatitis and HIV. He stressed.

District Chairman Sheikh Yousaf Mandokhail thanked the Provincial Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch for his generous contribution, interest and support with the DHQ hospital. He also praised the services of DHO, MS and his team for the ailing humanity and announced Rs. 50,000 for the camp staff, provision of solar system worth Rs. 1.4 million and water boring at the hospital immediately.

“We always tried our best to equip the state-run hospital with all required facilities and equipments,” Chairman added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner also visited the free camp.
