F.P. Report

TIMERGARA:  Jamaat-i-Islami chief and senator Siraj ul Haq on Sunday said the election commission of Pakistan was badly failed to fulfill its responsibilities during the recent senate election, asking the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take Suo Muto action against the alleged bargaining in senate election.

He was addressing a party gathering at the JI religious seminary Ahya ul Uloom Balambat on completion of ‘khatam e Bukhari Shrief’ and later talking to media persons.

The JI chief said his party would support Mian Raza Rabbani if the PPP nominated him for chairman senate slot. He said the wide spread hue and cry about horse trading in senate election had degraded the upper house of the parliament. “Therefore; the CJP should call the newly elected senators and party leadership to submit an affidavit in the Supreme Court that they were not involved in horse trading,” Siraj said, adding it was the right time to uncover the elements involved in disgracing the senate. He said party leadership had been admitting that their members were sold.

About the defeat of Maulana Sami ul Haq, chief of JUI-S he said he was shocked to hear about his result. He said that he should not have been treated so badly.

“It is only the JI the members of which cannot be bought,” he said, adding the JI members turned down the offers of millions of rupees.

Earlier the JI Lower Dir emir Maulana Asadullah, director JI foreign affairs Abdul Ghaffar Aziz and Maulana Hidayatullah wore turbans to students completing the education of ‘Holy Qura’n interpretation, hadiths and Nazira e Qura’n. The gathering was also addressed by central chief of Jamiat Tulba Arabia Ubaid ur Rehman Abbasi, Maulana Asadullah, Abdul Ghaffar Aziz, Maulana Hidayatullah and others.

JI chief said that religious seminaries, their students, ulema and turbans were being defamed under a planned conspiracy. He said Muslims should be proud of their culture and civilization. The JI chief also directed party workers to use to wear turbans as it was the dress symbol of Muslims.

Siraj ul Haq also administered oath to the newly elected office bearers of the JI Youth Balambat on the occasion.
