ECP issues notices to Nawaz, Zardari and Bilawal in foreign funding case

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued notices to Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in foreign funding case on Tuesday.

The Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan headed the five member bench and heard the petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against the PML-N and PPP. The PTI accused both the parties of hiding their source of income and the companies registered by them in other countries.

The ECP directed the both the leaders of PML-N and PPP to submit their replies in the case till January 8, 2018.

In its verdict last week on the petition filed against the PTI regarding similar allegations of foreign funding, the Supreme Court had said the matter would be sent back to the ECP for investigation.
