ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has signed a document with Nation Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on project of “Result Transmission System (RTS)”.
According to an official statement issued on Wednesday, the singed ceremony was held in ECP Secretariat, Islamabad under the chairmanship of the Secretary ECP.
The contract document was signed by Mr. Babar Yaqob Fateh Muhammad, Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan and Usman Yusaf Mobeen Chairman NADRA. The senior officers of ECP and NADRA were also present in the meeting. In the said project, NADRA will give technical assistance to ECP for the development of mobile based result transmission system for the Presiding Officers (P.Os).
As per section 13(2) of the Election Act, 2017, P.Os will be able to transmit result directly from polling station using his/ her mobile phone to the ECP/ R.O Office on real-time basis in the upcoming General Elections 2018.
It is pertinent to mention that ECP had already used this mobile APP result transmission system in four previous bye-election successfully.
