Stability of Middle East must for regional, int’l peace: President

Islamabad: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that peace and stability in Middle East is necessary for the both regional and international peace.

He hoped that peace and stability in Libya and Syria will be established soon and the people of both countries will have a peaceful and prosperous life.

The President said this while talking to the ambassador-designate to Syria Air Marshal (Retd) Rashid Kamal and ambassador-designate to Libya Maj. Gen (Retd) Sajid Iqbal who called on him separately at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.

The President stated that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Libya and Syria. He directed the ambassador-designates to make concerted efforts for enhancing bilateral trade and people to people contacts with their respective countries.

He emphasized that there is a need to increase cooperation in different fields in order to further deepen the relations with Syria and Libya. He underlined that Pakistan is connected through historical, cultural and religious ties with the both countries. The President underscored that Pakistan’s position on the situation in Syria is based on the principles on international law and UN charter.

The President called for protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. He expressed hope that the issue of Syria will be resolved politically. While talking to the ambassador-designate to Libya the President said that different organizations of Libya can benefit from the training programs being offered by Pakistan in the fields of engineering, medicines, agricultural and banking sectors.

The President also directed the ambassador-designates to take all possible measures for the welfare and resolution of the issues of Pakistani community in their respective countries.
