Ek Ladki Ko Dekh Toh Aisa Laga to be released on 1 February

Monitoring Desk

MUMBAI: If you’ve watched the trailer of Ek Ladki Ko Dekh Toh Aisa Laga and joined the dots, you know that Sonam Kapoor plays a closeted homosexual looking for validation from her conservative family. She finds solace in Rajkummar Rao who is in turn in love with her and is willing to stage a marriage for her sake. The film also stars Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla.

While the film does not openly mention the homosexual angle, several hints were dropped with dialogues and emotional scenes to put the plot line on the table. With no confirmations to the news yet, a leading daily reported that South actress Regina Cassandra will be playing Sonam Kapoor’s love interest in the film. Regina Cassandra is a very popular name in the South and has done many films in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. This is the first time she will be seen in a Hindi film.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Tot Aisa Laga is a refreshing take on love without any gimmicks and stereotypes around homosexuality. The film is slated to release on February 1st and is also the first time Sonam will share screen space with father Anil Kapoor.
