Explosion in Paktika leaves six civilians dead

KABUL: At least Six civilians including two children were killed when an unexploded ordnance detonated among a crowd of civilians at a local market in Paktika province on Monday morning, the provincial police confirmed.

Paktika police spokesman said the incident took place when a resident found the unexploded ordnance at a local market in Janikhel district and tried to defuse it but he was not succeeded and the device detonated while many people had gathered in the area.

He said the wounded have been taken to the district hospital. Hospital officials said that some of the wounded were in critical condition and that some of them were taken to Kabul for treatment. (TOLOnews)
