KABUL: The Afghan police forces have thwarted anti-government armed militants bid to detonate a mosque in Herat province. The MoI said Monday that the militants were looking to detonate two improvised explosive devices inside a mosque in Adraskan district but the National Police forces discovered and defused the explosives with the support of local residents. According to a statement released by MoI, “The criminal terrorists do not even respect holy places as part of their activities against Islam and humanity.”
The anti-government armed militant groups including Taliban have not commented regarding the bombing plot so far.
Herat is among the relatively calm provinces in West of Afghanistan but the anti-government armed elements are active in some of its remote districts where they often attempt to carry out destabilizing acts. (Khaama Press)
