Five killed, 15 missing after mudslide in Chile

CHILE: At least five persons were killed and more than 15 were missing in a mudslide in small village in Southern Chile after a heavy rain in the area.

The local authorities confirmed that after the torrential downpours in the area which resulted in mudslide. The authorities added that five persons were killed and at least 15 people were still missing.

Authorities informed the media persons that four Chileans and a male tourist whose name and nationality have not been disclosed have died in the mudslide.

The Rescue workers were continuing to search through the debris for the missing persons in the mudslide.

One school, several houses, roads and a voting centre ahead of Chile´s presidential election on Sunday.

President Michelle Bachelet declared the area a disaster zone.
