Fog descends again, shuts several motorways

ISLAMABAD: After a short spell of clear visibility, Lahore on Saturday was blanketed once again with fog which led to the closure of several motorways.

The motorways which were shut due to dense fog included: Multan Motorway from Faizabad to Jaranwala; M-11 from Mehmood Booti to Shahdara Kala Khatai Interchange; M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin; and M-5 from Sher Shah to Zahir Pir.

The minimum temperature of the city would remain 6 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature would touch 18 degree Celsius today.

Lahore ranked 2nd most polluted city

The air quality of Lahore could not be improved as the city ranked the second most polluted city in the world with its Air Quality Level hovering to 176.

The AQ level in different areas of Lahore has been recorded as follows: Kot Lakhpat 254; Canal Bank 205; Johar Town 196; Shahdara 196; and US Consulate 191.

Rain, snow forecast for upper areas of country

Rain with thunder and snowfall in mountains is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Punjab and North Balochistan on Saturday. Weather will remain cold in other parts of the country.

Weather in the last 24 hours: Balochistan, South/Central Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Upper Sindh received rain and snow on the mountains. The weather remained cold and dry in other parts of the country

Maximum rainfall (mm): Balochistan: Qalat 14, Khasdar 05, Bar Khan 03, Zhob 02, Samingli, Ormara 01, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad (City 05, Airport 03), Gardhi Dupta 05, Rawalkot 02, Punjab: Khanpur 06, Sialkot (City 05, Airport 02) Narowal 03, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Multan (Airport) 02, Murree, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan 01, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Malam Jabba 10, Dir (Upper 06, Lower 02), Balakot 03, Saidu Sharif 02, Kalam , 01, Gilgit-Baltistan: Astor 03, Skardu 01, Sindh: Jacobabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Rohri recorded 01 mm of rain.

Snowfall (inches): Trace snowfall was recorded in Malam Jabba 02, Astor, Ziarat 01, Quetta (Sheikh Mandah 0.6, Samingali trace), Murree, Kalam 0.5, Skardu, Kalat 0.4, Dir and Babu Sir.

Minimum temperature recorded today: Leh minus 10, Gopus minus 09, Astur minus 08, Kalam minus 07, Skardu, Malam Jabba, Ziarat minus 06, Hunza, Bagrot minus 05, Kalat and Parachinar recorded minus 04 degree Celsius.
