DOHA: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Qatar for a one-day tour to the country amid the four Middle East states announced boycott of Doha.
President Macron landed in Doha on Thursday and immediately traveled to the vast al-Udeid Air Base where he shake hands with the American and French soldiers who were present to greeted him.
The bases is home of 10,000 American troops and also some French soldiers were there, which is crucial to the ongoing fight against the Islamic State group in Iraq and Syria.
The French president later will hold talks with Qatar’s ruling emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates boycotted the Qatar after leveling allegations of supporting the extremists and close relations with Iran.
