Fuel, gold prices up in Kabul

KABUl: The prices of fuel and Russian gold have increased while that of essential items remains unchanged during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said Saturday.

Abdul Hadi, a worker in Wazirabad Fuel Station, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the price of one liter of diesel increased from 44 Afghanis to 45 Afghanis and the same quantity of petrol from 46afs to 47afs.

However, Ahmadullah, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area of Kabul sold one kilogram of the commodity for 45afs, the same rate of last week’s.

In food items, the prices of sugar and ghee slightly reduced.

Food Traders Union head, Fazal Rahman, said the price of 49 kilograms of Pakistani sugar decreased from 1,560afs decreased to 1,530afs and 50 kilograms of Kazkhstani flour from 1,080afs to 1,070afs due to the commodities’ high import. But he said that 16 liters of Khurshid ghee cost 1,020afs and 24kg of Pakistani rice 2,000afs, the same prices of last week’s.

Meanwhile, Noor Ahmad Khairkhwa, a tea seller in Kabul Mandavi, said a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 280afs and the same amount of African black tea 300afs — same prices as last week’s.

Ahmad Wali Panjsheri, who owns a grocery store in Dahn-i-Bagh area, sold a 50-kg sack of Kazakhstani flour for 1,120afs, a 49-kg bag of sugar for 1,700afs, a 16-litre tin of ghee for 1,100afs, 24-kg Pakistani rice for 2,200afs, a kilogram of green Indonesian tea for 300afs and the same quantity of black African tea for 350afs—higher than wholesale rates.

The price of Russian gold also increased.

Haji Fawad Ahmad Saleh, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area of Kabul city, said that one gram of Arabian gold cost 2,450afs while the price of same amount of Russian variety increased from 1,900afs to 1,950afs.

According to Sara-i-Shahzada Moneychanger Union, one US dollar accounted for 70.80afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees for 595afs against last week’s rates of 70.30afs and 589afs.
