Govt to take action against anyone flouting the law: Shehryar Afridi

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi on Thursday said the government would take action against anyone going against the law or the Constitution.

Addressing the media here, the minister said what Pakistan People’s Party workers did on Tuesday was visible to everyone. He was referring to the workers who converged outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) office in Islamabad when party chairman Bilawal Bhutto and co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari were due to appear before the NAB.

He said Bilawal must answer the allegations leveled against him. The minister deplored the PPP leaders for bringing along several party activists to the NAB office when they were summoned to appear for a case hearing.

Afridi said no one was allowed to take law into their hands. “The same law also applies to the prime minister and his sub-ordinates.”

The interior minister said six police officers and three media persons were also targeted by protesters [PPP activists] outside the NAB’s Islamabad office.

“The government has so far completed seven months in office and results of its performance will be evident soon,” Afridi remarked.

Shehryar Afridi said the fifth generation war was imposed on Pakistan.

He was of the view that National Action Plan on counter terrorism was agreed upon by all the political parties.
