Hafeez undergoes bowling action test in England

KARACHI (Monitoring Desk): Pakistan’s all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez underwent biomechanics tests of his bowling action in England on Wednesday.

Hafeez was reported for a suspected bowling action after Pakistan’s third ODI against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi last month. The all-rounder, according to ICC rules, underwent independent tests on his bowling action at ICC accreditation Loughborough University labs. He was asked to bowl 24 deliveries and the tests lasted for more than 90 mins.

The report on the bowling tests will be sent to PCB and ICC in 14 days time and Hafeez is allowed to bowl till the results of his bowling actions are known. Mohammad Hafeez was hopeful that he will get his bowling action cleared.

“IN SHAA ALLAH, I am very confident to get clear this test , as I m bowling with same remodelled bowling action since I got cleared by ICC,” Hafeez had posted on his twitter profile before the tests.

Hafeez was first suspended from bowling in December 2014. He was allowed to resume bowling in April 2015 after an independent reassessment of his bowling tests found his action to be legal. He was suspended for a second time after an independent assessment revealed that he had employed an illegal bowling action after being reported in the Galle Test v Pakistan in June 2015.

This was his second suspension within 24 months of the initial suspension in December 2014, he was suspended from bowling in international cricket for 12 months from July 2015.

On November 17, 2016, the bowler underwent a reassessment of his action at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane and was allowed to resume bowling after his action was found to be legal.
