Holding elections as per schedule need of the hour: Siraj

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq appreciating the commitment of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar for the supremacy of the constitution and the democratic system, has said that it was the need of the hour that general elections should held as per schedule and even a single day delay in the democratic process could have serious consequence.

Speaking at a high level meeting of the JI at Mansoora on Tuesday, Sirajul Haq further said that the care taker set up must be truly impartial. Expressing serious concern over increasing in load shedding in the country, he said that in spite of the tall claims of the rulers, load shedding up to 18 hours a day was going on in the rural areas and from ten to twelve hours load shedding in urban areas. This had made the lives of the people miserable. He said that the government had failed to provide any relief to the general public from price spiral, poverty and unemployment. The JI chief took strong exception to the government plan to privatize country’s airports.

He said that the government was searching for the parties for this purpose. He said that by intentionally making major airports a liability, the rulers wanted to hand over these to local and international parties against the national interest and was bound to create serious security problems.  The meeting decided to participate in a big way in the MMA convention at Islamabad on May 02, 2018. Secretary General (SG) JI Liaqat Baloch, deputy chiefs Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Asadullah Bhutto, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, Rashid Naseem, Deputy Secretaries General Muhammad Asghar and Azhar Iqbal Hasan, JI spokesman Amirul Azeem and JI chief for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and senior minister in KP government, Inayatullah Khan attended the meeting.
