KABUL (BNA): Deputy Prime Minister Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi said that the Islamic Emirate is working to guarantee food and medicine safety for the Afghan people, and warned against the import and production of substandard and harmful medicine and foodstuffs.
He made these remarks at the launch of the digitalization process of the National Food and Drug Administration in Kabul, which aims to standardize domestic and imported products according to national and international criteria.
Deputy Prime Minister stressed that food and medicine safety is a primary need and a priority of the Islamic Emirate and that without it, people’s health would be endangered.
He added that in the past, chemical and harmful substances were sold as medicine and food without any control.
He urged the traders and producers of food and medicine not to bring in or make products that harm people’s health and said that the National Food and Drug Administration is responsible for identifying and prosecuting the offenders, who are considered national traitors for harming the children and the people of Afghanistan.
Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, the acting head of the National Food and Drug Administration, said that 50% of the administration’s system has been digitized and that they will continue this work due to its economic and vital importance.
