PESHAWAR: Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan of Peshawar High Court on Friday remarked that medical officers must be enough educated on medical jurisprudence to carry out proper postmortem in the rape cases as most of the cases have been spoiled by medical staff due to non-professional attitude.
This he remarked during bail application hearing filed by alleged rapist Musaffar Khan.
During the hearing, Medical Officer Dr Suleiman of Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) appeared before honorable court and informed PHC about services provided to victims of rape.
He informed PHC that there are 11 medico-legal expert in the province in which nine experts are posted in Forensic Medicine Laboratory Khyber Medical College (KMC) Peshawar.
Director Emergency LRH Dr. Faisal Shahzad also appeared before the honorable court. PHC had directed to arrange special seminar and lectures for medical staff who are examining rape cases and submit report to Assistant Registrar PHC.
Justice Qaiser Rashid directed Dr. Suleiman to submit progress report on lectures and seminars arranged for medical staff on medical jurisprudence on every Friday.
The victim’s father namely Haji Niaz appeared before PHC and informed honorable court that he is making compromise on the pressure of Jirga.
He added that Jirga members visit his residence three times a day to compel him for patch up.
Justice Qaiser Rashid remarked that what kind of elders they are? Who are busy to protect the culprits involved in rape case.
