IHC orders religious parties to end protest in capital

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday ordered the religious parties to finish their sit-in at Faizabad Interchange of the Islamabad.

Tehreek-i-Labaik Pakistan and other religious parties are protesting against government and blocked the roads of the capital and it created problems to the commuters. They were protesting against the government for changing and then reversal of the finality of prophethood oath of lawmakers.

Mualana Allah Wasaya filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court against the clauses related to the finality of prophethood in the Election Act 2017. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of IHC told that the petition will be taken up on the condition of ending the protest in the capital.

He observed that the young, elderly, employees and others being adversely affected due to protest and directed the petitioner counsel to end the sit-in protest.

The counsel of the petitioner wants the government to make public the report of the inquiry committee under the leadership of Senator Raja Zafar-ul-Haq.

The judge remarked during the hearing that if a good deed is carried out wrongly, then it becomes a wrong act.

The hearing was then adjourned until November 29.
