RAWALPINDI: Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor on Sunday strongly condemned the firing incident at the house of Supreme Court judge Justice Ejazul Ahsan in Lahore.
ISPR DG Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that the firing incident at the residence of Justice Ejazul Ahsan is condemnable.
He said that it is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure secure environment for the effective functioning of the state institutions and continue the efforts to consolidate improving peace and stability.
Condemnations poured in from politicians after firing incident.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also strongly condemned the incident of firing at the residence of Supreme Court judge, Justice Ejazul Ahsan in Lahore.
The prime minister directed the authorities concerned at the federal and provincial level to bring the culprits to task at the earliest.
Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari termed the attacks alarming and called for a judicial probe.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan took to the twitter to condemn and express his concern over the firing incident.
He said that the Sicilian-mafia-like tactics to pressurize senior judiciary are unacceptable in any democracy.
The PTI chairman went on to say that the PTI stands firmly behind the Judiciary & Rule of Law & this is one reason behind our April 29 Minar-e-Pakistan rally.
The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) condemned the firing incidents and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
SCBA Secretary Safdar Tarar said that the lawyers of the whole country are standing with the Supreme Court judges.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah have also strongly condemned the firing on Justice Ejaz’s residence.
They said that investigation must be carried out into the incident and the culprits be brought to the justice.
They demanded the provision of adequate security to SC judges.
PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi while condemning the firing incident, demanded a judicial inquiry.
Ch Shujaat said that the firing incident has stunned and worried the people, adding that the culprits should be arrested and brought to justice.
