6 soldiers martyred, 4 terrorists killed in S Waziristan: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Six troops were martyred and four terrorists killed during exchange of firing at South Waziristan tribal district on Tuesday.

According to ISPR, fire exchange took place between own troops and terrorists in general area Asman Manza, South Waziristan District. “Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and resultantly four terrorists were sent to hell, while two terrorists were injured. However, during intense exchange of fire, six brave soldiers having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.

Sanitization of the area is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area. Armed forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve. On August 19, two terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bara area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Khyber district.

According to the military’s media affairs wing, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bara area of Khyber District. “The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces as well as killing of innocent citizens,” the ISPR said, adding sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists found in the area.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Tuesday expressed his deep grief over shahadat of six personnel of Pakistan Army during an exchange of firing with terrorists in Asman Manza, South Waziristan.

The personnel of armed forces who embraced martyrdom, were the pride of the nation and motherland, PM Office Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the prime minister as saying. He said that he along with the entire nation paid tribute to shaheed personnel. Due to these sacrifices of the armed forces, the specter of terrorism would be banished forever, he added.

Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have expressed their profound sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of security personnel in South Waziristan. They said that these martyrs are the heroes of the nation who sacrificed their lives protecting the motherland and fighting against the terrorists.

They condoled with the families of the martyred soldiers of security forces. They said that the war against terrorists will continue till the elimination of the last terrorist and their patrons.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of six soldiers in exchange of gunfire with militants in North Waziristan.

In a statement issued here, the caretaker interior minister while appreciating the valour of brave soldiers prayed for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace. Sarfraz Bugti said that brave soldiers killed four terrorists in the ambush while defending their motherland and sacrificed their lives.

The minister said the sacrifices of Pak Army for the country were unforgettable and the security agencies were busy in defending the motherland to curb terrorism from the country. He said the cowardly acts of terrorist could not demoralize the brave soldiers of Pak Army.

Funeral prayers of Shuhada held: Funeral prayers of Shuhada who embraced shahadat on Tuesday while fighting valiantly against terrorists during intense exchange of fire between own troops and terrorists in the general area Asman Manza, South Waziristan District were offered at Wana. Shuhada will be laid to rest with full military honours in their respective hometowns. Corps Commander Peshawar and other senior serving officers attended the funeral prayers. Armed Forces of Pakistan stand resolute and committed to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the motherland at all costs.
