JI raises voice against BRT project

TIMERGARA: Jamaat-i-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief and senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan on Sunday said the coming generation would face the consequences of Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project as the province had indebted people of the province.

Speaking at a news conference at Balambat here the JI provincial chief termed the federal government budget a budget for elite class. He said there was nothing good in the budget for poor and working class. He said the government had increased the non developmental expenditure by 20 per cent. “The salaries of government employees are increased by 10 per cent while salaries of employees of prime minister and president houses are increased by 15 and 17 per cent,” he said, adding it was indiscrimination with government employees. He said that youth, peasants, people of KPK, Fata and labourers had been ignored in the budget.

“Thirty three per cent of the total expenditure has been set aside for payment of loans,” he said.

The JI Lower Dir emir Maulana Asadullah, general secretary Syed Musharaf Shah, naib emir Syed Jehan Badshah and others were also present.

The JI leader said three of the chief ministers had walked out of the NEC meeting which was a question mark on the budget presented in the national assembly.

About the Peshawar BRT project he said the project authorities had also expressed reservation on it. He said the KP government had got loans for the project while the next general would face its consequences.

He said the MMA was fully enacted and its public gathering at Minar e Pakistan on May, 13 would give a new turn to national politics.

He said none of the MMA coalition partners was involved in corruption or Panama Leaks. He said the MMA would never disappoint the nation and would bring the real change in society.

Mushtaq Ahmad said that some elements were defaming the Pakistan army and other state institutions for their vested interest. He said the JI would fully support the Pakistan army and would never let those elements to destabilize the country.
