JI sets Dec 31 deadline for FATA, KP Merger

ISLAMABAD: The Jamaat-e-Islami long March, kicked off from Peshawar, for rights of FATA people has been wrapped up after reaching Islamabad setting the dead line of December 31 for the merger of Federally Administrative Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) and scrapping of Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) laws.

Addressing the protesters at China Chowk, Islamabad, JI Chief Sirajul Haq said that government has intended to create division among the tribal people, however people of tribal areas are united.

Sirajul Haq warned government, “JI would stage sit-in outside the parliament by calling people across the county, if government does not merge FATA with KP.”

The opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah, who joined the sit-in in Islamabad, also addressed the protesters and reiterated his party’s stance.

Opposition leader in National Assembly said that PPP strongly believesin FATA merger with KP.

The other tribal notables and Jamaat-e-Islami local leadership also demanded the immediate merger of FATA with KP in their speeches on the occasion.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) kicked off its long march against the delay in the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Bab-e-Khyber, a historical monument at the entrance of Khyber pass in Jamrud.
