Kabul powerlifters detained by IEA

KABUL (Tolo News): Khwaja Meer Mujahid, head of the Kabul Powerlifting Federation, and his brother have been detained by the forces of the Islamic Emirate, their family claimed. The Islamic Emirate has yet to comment.
According to the family, forces of the Islamic Emirate arrested Mujahid and his brother, Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Rahmani, at their residence in Kabul. “They (the children) said that the Taliban came and arrested our father. My husband went to see the situation, they arrested him too. We demanded someone tell us why they were being arrested. A neighbor came to talk with them—but they didn’t listen to him. I went and asked them, why are you taking them? For which crime are you arresting them? There were five to six Taliban and they told me to go home,” Dr. Ghulam Mohammad Rahmani’s wife told TOLOnews.
“I want my sons to be released and come back to me. He has not committed any crime,” Mujahid’s mother said. The family members called on the Islamic Emirate to release Mujahid and Rahmani as they had no known personal enemies. “He is innocent. He must be freed. He has not been arrested on any charges,” said Mujahid’s wife.
The Afghanistan Powerlifting Federation confirms the claims that Mujahid has been arrested by the Islamic Emirate. “He has put in a lot of effort for the Afghanistan Power Lifting Federation. We call on the Islamic Emirate to release him,” said Najibullah Ayoubi, an official of the Afghanistan Powerlifting Federation. Earlier, the family members of Nadima, known as Patingara Kakai, claimed that Kakai went missing from her office in Kabul a month ago.
