KABUL: Some residents and activists in capital Kabul on Monday staged a rally demanding UN and regional countries to work towards reconciliation in the war-ravaged country and stop the killing and bloodshed.
The activists clad themselves in clothes marked with red colour showcasing ongoing bloodshed in the country rallied to the Iranian Embassies and UN office in Kabul.
The passed a resolution asking for the protection of human rights, women rights and achievements of the past 18 years in different areas.
The resolution asked the UN Security Council to urge all regional and international stake holders to distance themselves from terrorism and help Afghanistan achieve reconciliation.
Syed Yaqub, one of the protesters, said: “In the past 50 years, five million people were killed at the hands of extremist elements.”
He said the safe havens of terrorist situated in foreign and asked to renounce the proxy war in Afghanistan.
He claimed Iran had dispatched hundreds of Afghan youth to Syria and Iraq under the Fatimyoon militia.
Yaqub added, besides Iran, Russian and China also supported militants in Afghanistan. (Pajhwok)
